Coordinating Team
The Missional Goal of the Coordinating Ministry Team (CMT) is to encourage, coordinate and maintain the presbytery’s focus on its vision and mission while giving other Ministry Teams, committees and commissions permission to carry out their functions.
The Coordinating Team oversees these tasks:
- To nominate to presbytery the Stated Clerk, the Treasurer, the members and Chairperson of the Nominating Committee
- To negotiate the terms of call for the Mission Coordinator, recommend its approval to presbytery, and arrange for the annual review
- To cast and interpret the vision and mission statements throughout the presbytery
- To determine that all ministry of the presbytery abides by a Reformed understanding of Scripture and the Constitution of the PCUSA
- To focus all ministry of the presbytery on the vision and mission statements
- To maintain the core values throughout the system
- To promote networking and connections throughout the system
- To act as the Board of Trustees and legal agent of the presbytery when so authorized, being guided by the bylaws of Cherokee Presbytery Properties, Inc. as ratified by Cherokee Presbytery
- To review the ministries and missions annually and suggest revisions of the organizational structure which will make them more effective
- To be responsible for the harmonious and effective ministry of the presbytery
- To discern, with the presbytery, mission priorities and present the same to the presbytery annually for approval
- To assign the defined objectives to appropriate groups and make certain they are pursued
- To look ahead and, in consultation with ministry teams and committees, it shall recommend to the presbytery future forms of mission
- To promote cooperation and collaboration among these groups whenever possible to avoid duplication, overlapping, conflict and confusion
- To review the minutes and make suggestions for the continuing ministry of the Campus Ministry Commission, holding one joint meeting per year with the commission
- To review the minutes and make suggestions for the continuing ministry of the Cherokee Presbytery New Church Development Commission, holding one joint meeting per year with the commission
- To review the minutes and make suggestions for the continuing ministry of the Cherokee Retreat Center, holding one joint meeting per year with the CRC Board.
