Volunteer Opportunity
CASA (Christian After School Academy) is an outreach of John Knox Presbyterian and the Brazilian Christian Church. It was started 3 years ago (January 2007) with 3 students from 1 elementary school and now has 36 students from 5 elementary schools! There are 5 staff members and the program has a strong emphasis on homework and reading.
CASA is in great need of volunteers and financial support. Volunteers are needed to help with homework and read with the children. The time commitment is about 2 hours per day, as many or as few days per week as desired.

Help offered and Partnerships Sought
For over a year now, the First Presbyterian Church in Marietta has been offering a Career Transition Ministry for people who are actively in transition, whether they have been laid off, RIF’d, downsized, fired, outsourced or are simply looking for a new job. The group meets monthly and has speakers that help people improve their job search skills (networking, resume preparation, etc.), and to empower them in that search. They are not a “job board” but do forward information from local job boards to their participants.
Please feel free to suggest this ministry to anyone in your area who might benefit from this program. Additionally, Marietta First’s leaders, Bob Sabin and Bill Lins would like to connect with any other congregations in our Presbytery who offer (or who would LIKE to offer) something similar in their local community. Their contact information is below.
