David offers an amendment
We had an opportunity to go to dinner together last night (except for David whose committee worked until late in the evening, and Andrew who joined the other YAADs at their gathering), and hopefully everyone got enough carb-loading to get them through the morning’s study/reading/review time and this afternoon and evening’s business meetings. At our dinner, Velma Tilley was presented with a prize, acknowledging that she was the first of our commissioners to successfully complete all three of the GA Bingo cards that Betty and I put together. The prize was a communion chalice and paten from this Assembly’s opening service of worship. En route back to our hotels from dinner, we got to visit the statue of Mary Tyler Moore and have our picture taken there.
This morning was a fabulous ecumenical worship service that involved songs from all over the world (I don’t think that I embarassed any of our Korean, Spanish or Twi-speaking brothers and sisters with my attempts to sing in their languages!). We also were able to celebrate the Lord’s Supper together (and those of you who have done ecumenical work know what a feat that can be to pull off). It was a wonderful start to a day that will seem very long indeed as we now wade into the work of hearing and acting upon all of the work of the committees.
Please join me in prayers of thanksgiving for these fine and faithful people gathered here to discern God’s will for us at this time, and join me in prayer for their peace, clarity and energy as they do this work together.l
Shalom y’all
Rebecca
