2010 Budget & Ministry Plan

Friends in Ministry,

Please take some time in the midst of this season to prayerfully consider how God is inviting your congregation to contribute to our common work.

Over the past 5 years, Cherokee Presbytery has reduced it’s need for congregational support by 75%. This reduction is not only in response to the difficult economic times, but more importantly a shift in our understanding of how God would have us organize the work of the church. In prior decades, the mission of the church was well-served by a centralized system of collecting and distributing funds. Now, we believe that God is calling us to remember that each and every congregation is on the front line of mission and that in the current era, mission funding is best done at the local level.

All of this reduction means that the presbytery “program” is very lean. While we have a smaller staff, and are doing less than in previous decades, the work that remains is critical to our corporate witness and function.  Our work relies on your support… including your prayers, time, and financial offerings. Contributions from all 41 congregations are vital to the continuation of our united mission and ministry. We hope you will review the resources (below) and prayerfully consider how God is calling you to participate in our common life.
